Strive To Feed & Build Soil NOT Plants

As natural growers our focus is to ‘feed the soil – not the plants’.

On a whole, as growers we are truly more managers of soil than anything else. This is our greatest use of our inputs and energy.

Ideas To Support Our Soils:

  • We can use living cover crops to amend and protect the soil.

  • Varieties of mulching to cover exposed soil.

  • Methods of chop & drop (permaculture).

  • We can build layering within a food forest system for all scales (small-large) to built supportive ecosystems based on soil needs.

  • We can rotate the placement of our market crops

  • Varieties of Interplanting. (specific types of plants grown together for soil support.)

  • Focusing our efforts on home composts from food scraps to make compost teas.

All of these natural practices can support the cultivation rich soil textures and improve available nutrient levels naturally from which our plants can then thrive.

Focus on feeding soil and plant life will thrive as nature intended.
